We’re back, b*tches! 🎉🎉🎉

We’re back, b*tches!

BoC is back—and to celebrate we’re sharing the new and old comics we’ve been reading to get us in the mood for another five years of glory.

If you want the full update and to take a look back at the best of BoC, join us for Episode 190: Five years of lovely b*tches. And, if you want to be the first to know what’s up with us, make sure to join us on Patreon—they’ve known about our return for weeks! 😉

We plan to be sending newsletters more consistently—and each one will be jam-packed with comics and pop culture goodness.

To kick things off, we figured we’d keep things eclectic, as we always do at BoC. Here are some (of the many) comics we’ve been enjoying lately—there’s something for everyone on this list!

  • Devour by writer Jazmine Joyner and illustrator Anthony Pugh – A gripping horror graphic novel where the eldest daughter of a family of powerful root women must learn her family’s secret history to face the evils at home—and keep a mad god from destroying us all.

  • Art Appreciation by Natasha Alterici – A sexy comic intended for mature audiences only follows two art students who make a titillating, defiant piece in response to an assignment from their stodgy professor.

  • Villains Dress Better by Bwillett – A fun, playful webcomic about who gets painted as the villain—and why looks can be deceiving.

  • Birds of Prey by writer Kelly Thompson and illustrators Leonardo Bastos Romero, Gavin Guidry, and others – This title is always a blast, but this most recent run has been extra fun, seeing familiar and new heroes taking up the BoP mantle and doing a little portal-hopping.

  • Attack on Titan by Hajime Isayama – We’re revisiting this classic post-apocalyptic manga series and can’t figure out why it feels so relevant. Humanity in crisis? Giant evil humanoids consuming people? We wonder.

  • Amulet by Kazu Kibuishi – After 16 years and nine books, this beloved middle-grade series has come to a close! We’re reading back through the early days to get caught up on this magical, fantastical adventure.

  • Prince of Cats by Ronald Wimberly – No matter how many times we read it, no matter how many people we get to read it, we can never talk about Prince of Cats enough. Focusing on Tybalt and other secondary characters from Romeo and Juliet, this electric, hip-hop- and punk-infused take jumps off the page and into our hearts forever.

If you like this roundup of comics we’re enjoying, let us know—and let us know what you’re reading, too!

We’ll be back in a few weeks with another newsletter and another bit of the lovely b*tches you can’t get anywhere else, so stick around.

— S.E. and Monika

A pink back drop has several shades of pink around the neon pink BoC logo where the O is an eye. The text reads: Episode 190: Five years of lovely bitches, our fifth anniversary episode. Underneath that are three small icons: a pair of purple lips with vampire teeth poking down, a speech bubble with three teal exclamation points, and a rainbow with three stripes.

We keep busy here at BoC—and we’d love to share some recent highlights you might have missed:
